Why Choose Online Bingo?

Bingo is the most simple casino game to learn and play and doesn’t cost much to start enjoying it. Playing online also gives you the convenience of being able to enjoy it from home or on the go from a mobile device

When playing bingo at a reputable online casino you are guaranteed a fair and random game. Online casinos use RNGs [Random Number Generator] which determine that the outcome of a game is fair and that the numbers are truly random. While we are sure that land-based bingo halls are trustworthy, playing online pretty much guarantees that the game is not rigged in any way as long as you choose a trusted bingo site.

At many bingo sites, there is also the appeal of a chat function that connects the participants in a game with each other so they can socialize, chat, and make friends.

Bingo Rules & How to Play

One of the greatest benefits of playing bingo is that you don’t need to learn lots of rules and strategies to play it.

You have the option of playing free and real money bingo games online. The free game is a good way to begin for those who have never played bingo before. You’ll probably become bored with the free games after a while especially when all you can win is play money. If you deposit real money at a casino, you’ll get extra bonuses that will add to your bankroll and you are able to enter the big jackpot games that offer large prizes.

Playing bingo on an internet site is the same as you would play it at a physical location, the difference being that computer software acts as the caller and daubs the cards.

In the next section of this guide, we will discuss the different bingo games that you can play but the rules don’t differ dramatically. What will vary is the patterns that are needed to win, how big the prizes are, as well as the number of balls in play.

After choosing a game from the bingo site lobby you will need to purchase a game card or cards, it’s up to you how many you purchase, the more cards you buy the greater the chance you have of winning but you do have to factor in the cost of buying the cards and how much of your bankroll you are willing to risk.

When the game begins you will see your virtual game cards on the screen. Every time that you match a number it is marked off on your card you can do this manually or have it done automatically with the auto-daub feature.

Many games also offer a ‘best card forward’ feature which allows you to see more or fewer cards at the same time and also brings the best card that is closest to making a pattern to the forefront on your screen.

If you mark off all your numbers on the card in the specified pattern before any other players then you win. Usually, you will automatically receive the prize.

And that’s all there is to the game! You’ll find the game gets more exciting as the game progresses and you are just a couple of numbers away from winning.

Different Bingo Games

30-Ball [Speed] Bingo

Players who are short on time can play this fast version that just has 30 balls and only takes a few minutes to play. The cards have a 3×3 grid with just 9 random numbers and no free spaces. As there are fewer numbers called in this version you can expect a fast-paced and exciting game.

75-Ball Bingo

This bingo originates from the USA but is popular worldwide. Unlike 90 ball bingo, this version is focused on making patterns rather than lines. The player who wins is the one who forms the specified pattern in the least number of calls usually they will win the whole jackpot. Patterns can include shapes such as crosses, diamonds, or squares, as well as fun themed shapes such as rocket ships in certain games. The card for 75 ball bingo is made up of a 5×5 grid with a blank square in the center.

80-Ball Bingo

This bingo game was specially designed to be played on the internet with the card made up of a 4×4 grid that contains 16 random numbers between 1 and 80. The usual way to win in this version is to make lines or a full house or coverall.

90-Ball Bingo

While the US players prefer 75 ball bingo in the UK 90 ball is the favored game. Online you will find both games readily available. This is played with 15 numbers on a 9×3 grid. Usually, there are three chances to win at 90 ball bingo, you can grab a prize for making 1 line, 2 lines or a top prize for marking off all 15 numbers and making a full house.

Community Jackpots

Bingo has some great jackpots to participate in which adds extra appeal to the game. For the community jackpot, the winning bingo player gets a percentage of the prize and the rest is divided up between the other players.

Progressive Jackpots

Many sites offer progressive jackpots and they are extremely popular with bingo players as with just a small stake you have the potential of winning a huge payout. To win a player has to complete a particular pattern [usually a full-house] on the card within a certain number of calls. If this is managed then the jackpot rolls over to the next game of bingo and will continue growing until it is the won.

Bingo Strategy

Bingo is a totally random game and it is impossible to predict the numbers that are going to be called so there will be no bingo system that can defy the odds.

The tips below might give you more chances to win or make your bankroll last longer;

Buy More Cards

The more bingo cards you play means a greater chance of having a winning ticket, first, you will have to ensure that the prize is worth the extra cost of buying the additional cards. While you have more chances as the game is totally random you could still come away with nothing so only risk what you can afford to lose. On the other hand for new players, it is probably best to just start with a few cards when starting out until you get used to the game.

Play Free Games First

New players should play the free games first, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how the game works and the different patterns. You will also find out which types of bingo games you like the most.

Money Management

Even though you won’t win the big jackpots to begin with, for those on a budget it is best to start with the low stakes game and build up your bankroll rather than blowing all your money on a few expensive cards.

Live Bingo vs Online Bingo Games

While bingo is simple to play, one of the hardest parts when you are playing the real-life version is making sure that you are following all the numbers being called. If you are slow in calling ‘Bingo’ and another the next numbered ball is drawn you miss out on winning. If you have just the one bingo card this isn’t likely to be a problem but experienced players at land-based casinos often play with many cards at the same time.

Online the game is nowhere near as intense, you can play lots of cards at once without stressing if your number has been called. This is because of the automated auto-daub feature when playing internet bingo. Rather than the player marking off the numbers, the computer does it for them. This gives you the opportunity to play multiple cards with ease or play other games such as roulette or slots concurrently.

The computer will also tell you if you have won or not, so if you are busy with other tasks you won’t miss out on your winnings. If you want to make the game a little more exciting and immersive though you can usually turn the auto function controls off. Even if playing manually and you manage to miss a number the computer will know if you have a winning card and still be credited with the win.

Bingo History

Historians trace the early history of bingo back to Italy in the 16th Century with the introduction of the lottery game Il Giuoco del Lotto d’Italia. This national state lottery is still going strong today, adding millions to Italy’s government budget every year.

Towards the latter part of the 18th Century, the Italian lotto appeared in France and was known as Le Lotto. It was a game popular with the aristocracy where it was played at parties and social events. It was played with cards that contained three horizontal rows and nine vertical columns. The columns each consisted of 10 numbers and the rows five random numbers as well as four blank squares. Each lotto card was unique, from a cloth bag a caller would draw wooden tokens that were numbered and read them out to the players. The players would cover the number announced and the winner would be the first to cover one horizontal row.

In the following century, the game of lotto appeared in Germany where it became an educational game for children, teaching them mathematics, how to spell, and more.

Like many other casino games that we know and love today, it traveled from Europe to the USA. In the nineteen twenties it became popular at county fairs where it was known as ‘Beano’. This was due to the use of beans that players used to mark the cards when their number was called and the winner would shout out Beano.

In December 1829 a struggling New York toy salesman Edwin S. Lowe witnessed the game at a country fair and saw its potential. He purchased the equipment needed to play the game and began playing the game with friends at his home in New York. When an excited Beano winner mispronounced the game as Bingo at one of these get-togethers Lowe decided to create a new game to be called bingo.

In 1930 the game was developed further with the help of Columbia University Mathematician Professor Carl Leffler. The professor was tasked with producing 6,000 bingo cards that had non-repeating number combinations. He managed to complete the task but went insane in the process!

Bingo went from strength to strength and Edwin Lowe’s company went on to hire thousands of employees as Bingo grew in popularity in the US and then worldwide.

While there has been a decline in land-based bingo over the last decade or so it has become one of the most played games online with a younger generation embracing this entertaining and exciting game.
